More speed bumps - that's ok, though, they are just bumps. And I'm VERY thankful our agency discovered the bumps before we'd submitted the i800a. So, that is an answer to prayer! Like I said, this is all new, so lots of learning curves.
With the new i800a form and the Hague Convention requirements for our home study, we are having to jump through some extra hoops. Good thing we are good jumpers. :) We must get child abuse registry checks from each state in which we have resided since we were 18. Luckily, that is only 3! After some quick legwork - we got the forms filled out, signed, notarized and mailed to the various state agencies before noon today. Not bad!
Now we wait.
If you'd pray for quick processing and return, we sure would appreciate it!
Updated to add - well, that wasn't all we had to do. Thursday afternoon, we discovered we also had to do criminal history checks for each state. After doing some online search, getting info from my agency, and making a few calls, we had the info we needed to get those checks started. These checks involve forms, notaries, fingerprints, and fees. Friday we got our first set of fingerprints for NC, had forms notarized, and got the required money orders. We are waiting for our fingerprint cards for MD to come in the mail, then we can get those done, too.(Luckily, VA doesn't require fingerprints- they do a name check.) NC and VA are in the mail, hopefully MD will also be by next Friday. Boy, did I need a glass of wine at the end of the day. :)

Hi Kerry,
It is interesting that they are making that requirement when the state of Maryland automatically does that as part of the home study. We also had to have driving records for two of the states in which we lived.
Keep on those jumping shoes...there will surely be more hoops...if anyone is capable, I think it is you!

Sonia - I can't believe you are taking the time to read and comment on my blog! You don't know how much your comment encouraged me just now. As I started getting all the info today I got a little emotionally overwhelmed.
I'm sitting here with three different envelopes, writing request letters, filling out forms, making notes to myself about what needs to be done when...feeling like I'll never get through all this paperwork... and then I think about your CUTE little girl and I KNOW it is worth every minute. :)
Oh, yea - I wanted to comment on the MD thing, too. We had to do a background check here as part of our homestudy, too. But that was only for NC (and it was only a "name search" while this one is a fingerprint-based one). Because we are submitting the i800a, we have to have state background checks from every state we've lived in since age 18.
Praying here. :)
